Letter from the Principal

Dear Brentwood Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year at Brentwood Elementary! Whether you’re returning or joining us for the first time, I’m so glad to welcome you into our Brentwood family. As we head into the 2025–2026 school year, I’m filled with excitement and pride to begin another year together in this incredible community.

This year marks my seventh year as principal of Brentwood, and it continues to be an absolute honor to serve such a dedicated, caring, and vibrant school community. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such talented staff, supportive families, and remarkable students.

Our school theme this year is “Great Minds Grow Here”, and it beautifully reflects what we believe about our students: that they are capable, curious, and resilient. At Brentwood, we nurture growth—not just academically, but socially and emotionally. We believe that grit matters, and that great minds aren’t just born—they’re grown through effort, support, and meaningful relationships.

We’re also thrilled to begin the school year with several new and improved learning spaces following major construction over the summer! These updates are designed to enhance our students’ daily experiences and create more flexible, engaging environments where learning can flourish. From upgraded classrooms to new collaborative spaces, the improvements reflect our commitment to providing the very best for our students and staff. We can’t wait for you to see the transformation!

Just as important as academic success is our commitment to making sure every child who walks through our doors feels seen, heard, and like they truly belong. We know that when students feel safe, valued, and connected, they can take risks, persevere through challenges, and achieve their full potential.

Our dedicated staff works each day to create a learning environment that is welcoming, engaging, and focused on helping each student grow into their best self. And we recognize that this work is strongest when we do it together—in partnership with you. Your support, collaboration, and involvement are essential to our shared success, and we’re so grateful for the trust you place in us.

As the year unfolds, I look forward to celebrating the many ways our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I’m eager to partner with you in this important work and am confident that together, we’ll make the 2025–2026 school year one to remember.

Here’s to a joyful, inspiring, and growth-filled school year—because at Brentwood, Great Minds Grow Here!

Warmly,
Dr. Kim Barrett
