  • Send Building-Wide Email to Staff Indicating My Presence in the Building and Inviting Each Member to Meet Individually
  • Begin to Arrange Office Effectively
  • Walk the Building with Maintenance Staff
  • Begin to Develop a Mutual Plan Regarding Areas of Needed Improvement in the Building

First Week

  • Review Beginning of the Year Procedures to Learn More About Previous Practices
  • Conduct Individual Meetings with Staff
  • Examine Files Left by Previous Principal to Learn More About Previous Practices
  • Gathering Information About Welcome Day Visits To Prepare for These Visits

Burning Imperative (By Day 30 – July 31)

  • Meet With a Majority of Staff Members
  • Facilitate First Building Leadership Team (BLT) Meeting
  • 08/01/14 BLT Agenda
  • Collaborate with BLT to Consider Revision to Mission / Vision Statement
  • Prepare Back to School Parent Newsletter
  • Examine Standardized Assessment Data to Determine Individual Students’ Needs
  • Meet With Assigned Principal Mentor
  • Meet With PBIS Committee to Develop Building-Wide Behavioral Expectations and Determine
    Logistics for Expectation Assembly

Milestones (By Day 45 – Aug 15)

  • Meet With Building Secretary to Ensure Completion of Beginning of the Year Requirements
  • Conclude Individual Staff Meetings
  • Conduct Back To School Welcome Day Home Visits – Volunteer staff members will join me as I visit each of our learners’ homes to welcome them back to the start of the new school year and address any questions our learners or their parents may have
  • Meet with BLT to Develop August Institute Day Activities
  • Participate in CPR and CPI Refresher Courses
  • Familiarize Myself With Grade Level Curricula and Google Apps
  • Determine RtI Groups Through Analysis of Existing Data
  • Distribute Back To School Parent Newsletter

Early Wins Plans (By Day 60 – Aug 31)

  • Implement Institute Day Planned Activities
  • Facilitate First Day Activities with Students and Parents
  • Conduct a Minimum of Two Visits in Each Classroom
  • Begin to Learn Students’ Names
  • Facilitate Individual Grade Level Meetings to Share Pertinent Beginning of the Year Information and Receive Focused Feedback
  • Facilitate RtI Committee
  • Attend Beginning of the Year PTO Events
  • Facilitate Bus Driver Meeting to Communicate Expectations and New PBIS Initiatives / Activities
